The game of golf came to be known and is now recognized worldwide inspired from the golden rules of the performing drills on which it was based. Including flexibility and strength, one needs to develop a repeatable consistent swing attitude towards this play. Flexibility and strength go hand in hand for the development of a reliable and consistent swing.

Flexibility reduces stress on many muscles, joints and connective tissues. Restriction among movement in regard to these links means that our body possesses compensation that results in injury. For example, restrictive shoulder motion in adverse effects can cause an excess of spinal rotation, which can further cause injury to our shoulders and back. As the saying goes “practice make a man perfect” so don’t hesitate in practicing golf, as it will always make you a better player and bring flexibility to your body which is necessary to have an efficient golf swing.

To keep the tendons and the ligaments strong and to keep you free of injury, another very key thing that a sportsman playing golf should have is to develop strength. Strength only helps in improving the coordination and the body’s ability to grab and absorb the golf ball. Strength in the hips and trunk, which is actually known as the core strength makes the base for extremities movements. Even, strength helps in making a spinal alignment and a proper posture, which is important for a sportsman. For example an angle on wedge that is an angle measured from the shaft’s center to ground in regard to degrees should be around 64 degrees. This helps in having a comfortable and less stressful axis of rotation.

Imperfect postures can lead to thin shots, hooks, pulls and pushes, slices, injury etc and no good player would like to slice the golf ball, which results in both: losses of distance and accuracy. This in turn costs strokes on the golf course. Good posture leads to a good balance which promotes crisp ball contact and prevents from hip slide or sway.

Also, before practicing for the game you need to do a little warm-up like jogging, some exercises or even some special drills like hit drill which again requires strength and stamina. For this, you can also join strength training and flexibility program. Strength training helps in improving muscular endurance which delays the switching on of the fatigue. Fatigue can lead to breakdown in one or the other link within our kinetic chain.

It can also lead to wrong posture, timing and balance coordination and can make more vulnerable injury.

The above two golden words will surely help in prevention of injury and will promote a more efficient and a well coordinated golf swing. Don’t make your hands only a piece of confusion or puzzle at the time of playing golf; rather put your full concentration and coordination to make a centerpiece come out of a great golf swing.

Any avid golfer who has played a considerable level in this game will agree with the fact that injuries are an inevitable part of this sport. An individual who plays golf is bound to suffer from injuries at some point of the time. The article is written with the intention of alerting the budding golf players about the possible golf injuries and how can they be avoided successfully.

Some of the most common areas where an individual is bound to suffer from golf injuries include sensitive areas of the body, such as lower back, shoulders, hands and wrists. The main reason why these areas are the worst affected is that these are the joint and muscle groups which are required to remain in motion for the maximum amount of time while playing the game. Amateur golfers need to understand that sports basically deals with two types of injuries i.e. cumulative and acute. Golf is a sport which is more likely to result in cumulative injuries which will take place over a considerable period of time after an individual has spent a large amount of time playing the game repetitively.

Over a considerable period of time, cumulative injuries end up hurting the joint muscles of an individual. It is necessary to take care of these pains well in time, lest they will result in cumulative injuries rendering the golfer physically unfit to play any more golf for the rest of their lives. Nevertheless, golf can also result in acute injuries where the injury is sudden. This kind of injury generally occurs in case the golfer jerk their shoulder back forcefully while hitting a shot or the back is thrown out.

The idiom, prevention is better than cure fits in here extremely well. There are a number of precautions which can be observed by an individual in order to avoid both cumulative and acute injuries while playing golf. Cumulative injuries can easily be avoided by performing some stretching exercise regularly before commencing a game of golf. These stretching exercises as shown in the video clip play an important role in relaxing the muscles and ensuring that all the joints of the golfer are loosened up, so as to avoid any possibility of injury.

The ideal time to do stretching exercise is ten minutes before the game, when the golfer can relax and get pumped up for the game. It is generally a good idea to indulge in a few stretching exercise even after the game is over. Repeating the stretching exercise after the game can help an individual to prevent body aches and sore joints, thus enabling him to stay refreshed for future games as well.

A large number of people often tend to ignore minor pains or muscle pulls thinking that the minor pain will not possibly interfere with their game. This however can prove disastrous for the player later on. These minor pains can possibly grow into cumulative injuries which can cause commendable amount of discomfort to the player later on.

The most dreaded mistake that is common to the golfers is the sway. The surprising part is that many of the golfers do not realize even that they sway while playing the golf swing.

What is a sway precisely and how your golf swing get affected?

A sway is the movement on the sideways of the hips while playing the golf swing. When the hips are to turn while playing the swing, there is a lateral movement in the golf swing, but actually, this is not a sway.

So what’s the difference per se. Say while a golfer sways the hips rock and the line of the plane changes. In case of the lateral shift in the proper golf swing, his hips stay in level with ground. As a fact, during the good golf swing, the lateral shift is a backing motion owing to lower back that should face the target with the start of the back swing.

Most of the golfers who sway during the backswing also have their knee locked. As a result, the knee that is locked, forces their body to lean backwards toward the target, which produces the reverse pivot.

If in case you halt at the top of the back swing , and are unable to pick up the target foot for one second without having moved more weight to the back foot , then that means that you have a reverse pivot and which may have sway as a causation factor.

Compounding of the problem comes into picture when the instructor tries to correct the problems without entering into the basic fundamental root of the problem. Further, if he attempts to address the Reverse Pivot without taking due care and correcting the sway or knee, the problem becomes recurring in a nature, and often leaving you wondering as to the reason of taking a golf lesson.

The above-mentioned problems not getting over, there is also the problem that the sway places the back hip in such a position that disables the entire body turn while playing the back swing. The reason for this to happen is that the hip comes out of the line with leg and also locks the concerned joint about one-fourth of the way in back swing. The result is that the arms overpowering the top –golf swing that is void of power and quite hard to time.

Now coming to the bottom line as to how to stop the sway while playing the golf swing, the pert answer is to just taking away the need of any of the movement that is made laterally while playing the backswing.

So the next time whenever you take a stance, get comfortable first. Then just angle the body from hips up i.e.; you have to keep the hips in the centre of feet and keep it away from target until and unless 70% of the body weight is felt under the back foot and your head comes behind the ball.

It is widely said that women are physically not as strong as men are. But this has definitely not deterred women from participating in one of the most demanding sports i.e. golf. Although the number of women golf players is in minority as compared to male golfers, the bright side is that this minority group has been rising in strength.

A large number of successful, independent women seem to be discovering the intricacies of this great sport which is the ideal game for both talented and not-so talented female golf players. A large number of conventional men may like to believe that the only reason why such a small number of female golfers are available around boiling down to the fact that women are not capable enough to play a successful game of golf. But the fact is that women have different responsibilities and different interests. It is believed that women have considerably less time as compared to men courtesy their household and professional duties.

But there are several reasons why women should consider golf as a sport more seriously. Some of them include:

The fun factor is a very important thing. Golf is not only a sport which can act as a useful stress reliever. It is also a sport which allows women to inculcate some free, fun time into their otherwise hectic schedules.

It is a widely acknowledged fact that men have been making use of golf for business networking purposes. But women have been using this sport as well in order to build their contacts and ensure better networking. Women can be seem discussing business ideas and discuss business on the golf greens. A large number of women seem to be replacing their regular all-ladies get together with a game of golf where they can catch up with their other female friends and exchange ideas, recipes, fashion tips, thoughts over a game of golf.

Golf course acts as the ideal platform for people to make new friends and spend some quality time with their close pals while sharing a common interest i.e. golf. It has been observed that women often tend to ignore their overall fitness and regular exercise routines while being immersed in work and household chores. But a game of golf can comfortably take care of all their exercise requirements. If a female golf player tries walking all the eighteen holes on the field, it is possible to cover an area of five miles at the end of the day. Nevertheless, even if a woman prefers to take the easy route via golf cart, the exercise benefits of playing golf will still be profound enough.

If one takes a look at all the benefits which are listed down here, it should come as no surprise why a large number of women seem to have a sudden fancy for this interesting game, which has so much to offer to its players.

Golf is a game of prestige, status, and skill. It is one of the only truly fluid games where the venue makes all of the difference. One can be a champion at one course and a loser at another.

One of the most interesting aspects of the game is that there is a certain level of challenge when it comes to the course itself. Some courses favor power drivers, with long par fives, tall trees, and greens that are just out of reach for all but a few. Other courses favor those with a strong short game with terrain that can take a ball in 3 different directions on its way to the cup.

Then, there are some courses that are just plain hard. To highlight what many consider to be the most difficult golf course in the world, regardless of a golfer’s skill level, below you will find information of the 4 runner ups, Pine Valley, Meland Golfklubb, Mollymook, and Widow’s Walk. After those, we have declared a winner. Visit them with caution — they can break a golfer’s spirits as quickly as a double bogie.

Pine Valley Golf Club, Pine Valley, New Jersey

Regularly ranked the number one course in Golf Digest’s list of America’s 100 greatest courses, Pine Valley is praised for the consistent level of challenge and conditioning on each hole, requiring thoughtful placement of the ball from tee to green. Among its many accolades, Pine Valley has arguably the best collection of par fives and par threes in the world. The course prides itself in being one of the toughest challenges in all of golf, with a slope of 155 from the championship tees.

Meland Golfklubb, Bergen, Norway

With a stroke rating of 151 from its back tees, no other European course can compete with this (the highest possible rating is 155) and thus Melands par-73 course has been crowned Europes hardest test. The playing area is fairly generous but nearly every hole runs through a corridor of trees and creates problems in the mind. In addition to its distractingly beautiful setting, with both mountains and sea as neighbors, Meland Golf Club has a very aesthetic design. You won’t be the first to slow your pace and let others pass you on holes 8 through 13; the view toward the city of Bergen and its seven mountains, perhaps capped with snow even in May, is exceptional, and well worth missing your turn at the tee.

Mollymook Golf Club, Mollymook, Australia

The Championship Hilltop course is 18 holes of bushland beauty, situated so that you can still hear the waves rolling in on the pristine Mollymook Beach. The course is affectionately known as “The Ultimate Challenge” - a name earned from the players, not the designers. With meandering tree-lined fairways and undulating greens, Hilltop provides a stern test for any golfer.

Widow’s Walk Golf Course, Scituate, Massachusetts

When Widow’s Walk Golf Course opened in 1997, to much fanfare from the likes of Golf Digest, the story goes that a foursome of local golf club professionals came by one day to play a round.

Widow’s Walk had its way with them: When the group finished they had lost around 10 golf balls, declared the course too difficult and vowed never to return. Everyday duffers complained as well. Members of Scituate’s board of selectmen, which oversees the golf course, had to admit that it wasn’t very player friendly.

Playing golf at Widow’s Walk is much like driving a 600-horsepower car on a twisty road. Both reward finesse over power. To golfers, this requires hitting the ball straight off of the tee.

Golf is a unique game. It may not physically exhaust you like tennis or cricket, but the long distance walks definitely gives you ample physical exercise. This exercise regime may be easy for youngsters, but older players may find it taxing.

Such problems may be solved by using golfing accessories such as golf carts. A golf cart is a mechanical trolley like thing that can carry the golfer and his equipments around the golf course arena.

Finding a golf cart to suit your budget:

A golf cart allows the golfer to move around the golf course quickly and easily without much stress. And as the game is getting more popular, the golfing courses all over the world are increasing in size. So the senior or elderly people may find it very hard to stay in the game sans a golf cart.

A golf cart is normally chosen by the upper middle class of the society and also by those people who do not have much time, but desire to play golf. The golfing cart may help them enjoy the game and move around quickly to complete their shots. They may play a game of golf even with their packed schedules.

Golf carts are available in all sizes, styles and prices according to your personal choice and budget limits. If you desire a cheap one for local golf courses, then you may opt for a low priced one.

For a bigger golf cart that may help carry 2 or more people along with their equipments, there are numerous heavy sized buggies or golf carts. Some golf carts help carry up to eight golfers simultaneously. They could also be plied on the streets and used by those golfers who stay very near to the golf courses.

Varieties in golf carts include electrical engines, normal engines, gasoline powered carts, etc. So whatever your golfing demands and the golf course terrain-rough or smooth, you may find a suitable golf cart.

Maintenance of Golf Carts:

Small sized vehicles such as golf carts or buggies need similar care & maintenance as any car or jeep. Even putting away the cart during cold winters may require you to store it with care. You may include few bottles of clean water, cleaning clothes, gloves, wrenches, etc for starting the golf cart after the winter season. Many people just stow them away in a shed or garage area, without giving much thought about the starting problems, after the cold season. Even if the golf cart is new, it may need some minimum maintenance. It is very essential that you remove the battery and disconnect them before storing your mower or golf cart for the cold season.

Always read the instruction or guidelines of the manufacturer. Don’t try to meddle with a golf cart if you have never handled a cart before. You may also take your cart to the golf items dealer for proper inspection.

Hope you enjoyed reading this article and got some helpful tips for buying and maintaining a golf cart. With golf cart, you may need minimal physical exercise in the golf course. This snip may help you select golf accessories. So, enjoy your golfing rounds with a super golfing cart.

There could possibly be a large number of individuals who are avid golf fans and love to play this game for hours. For such individuals, nothing could be possibly more tantalizing than to go for a golf vacation. People, who are fans of golf and who are looking forward to get away from the hustle bustle of busy city life should definitely try going for an exquisite golf vacation.

A golf vacation allows an individual to fuse their love for this famous sport along with a relaxing holiday where they can hope to have an enjoyable time along with their loved ones. People may believe that golf vacations could possibly be one of the most expensive things on earth, which are only meant for the rich and famous. But contrary to the general belief, any individual who loves to play golf and is looking forward for an exciting vacation can choose to go for a golf vacation, which will be well suited and within their budget. However, there are some pointers which need to be taken care of while choosing a particular golf resort as the ideal vacation destination.

It is extremely important to select the right kind of vacation resort, where an individual can possibly spend some great time with their friends, family and loved ones. While on a golf vacation, stress should be laid on selecting a resort which is well equipped with all the modern golf facilities, has plush golf greens along with other regular, luxurious facilities.

Nowadays, golfers even have the option of customizing and choosing their own golf vacations. Individuals who are on a limited budget and cannot afford expensive golf resorts can opt for a regular hotel and then, fuse it with golfing facilities being offered in the neighborhood arena. People who are looking forward to spend some free time on the holiday and play golf as well are generally seen going in for this option.

Any individual who decides to go for a golf vacation should first try to do a thorough research on the innumerable options available regarding golf vacations. It is advisable to check the golf courses being offered by a resort before making any bookings or selecting a particular package for golf vacations. It is necessary to book a package which is well suited to fit all the golfing and vacation needs of an individual and their family. Avid golfers who would like to play some challenging golf should not try to go for golf resorts which can only offer basic golf courses and vice versa.

However, choosing the right golf course would not be sufficient enough. One must remember that the main purpose of golf vacations is to combine sports with vacation, thus, one should also consider other important factors before going on a golf vacation, such as the accommodation facilities available, the vacation destination, expenses and a number of other factors. This should be done in order to achieve a perfect balance between the sports and vacations.

Golfers are always eager to play the game and some feel that a warming up session before a golf play is a time waste. They can’t be more wrong. These impatient golfers are risking themselves to an injury and also sacrificing their bid to play better.

Avoiding warm up sessions affects your consistency level and also a power-packed play. A pre golf round warm up is mandatory, if you join professional golf classes. For getting the most of your muscular power, it is necessary to exercise them before a golfing session. All week end golfers must have a pre round warm up session. It may help you better your shots and erase your golf handicaps.

The main aim of a warm up round is to increase body temperature and supply blood flow to the muscles and also enhance the oxygen supply to your muscles. A warm up also prevents untoward injuries, once you’re through with your regular warm ups, you may feel relaxed and loose, and ready to swing the club anywhere you like.

You may also start your own warm up rituals. But the key to good warm up is to be thoroughly efficient about it. PGA professionals make it a habit to be present at the golfing course 2/3 hours before the play starts. They complete their entire warm up program so that they play their best shot ever.

Weekend golfers are short of time, they cannot dedicate 2 to 3 hours to warm up sessions. In fact they need more precise fitness warm up programs, from the body movements to the golfing swings. The weekend player must be capable of developing good warm up schedule.

Working on your right side muscles is very important for helping you in swinging the golf club and boosting all round performance. The large muscles of the lower body should be exercised for playing power shots.

Good fitness exercise programs for golfers include the following:

The exercises must include the whole body movements

A quick walk through the golf course is a great way to start the warm ups

Exercises must loosen up muscular power and raise the bodily temperature

The warm ups must focus on the hamstring are and lower body

Extending the rams over the head while handling the club may help

Rotating your shoulders, torso, arms and head to the right side is another good exercise for golfers

A pre-round warm up session is mandatory for all golfers. Using a known warm up routine or creating your own program, both may help you prepare for a good round of golf and prevent any awful muscular injury. It also improves your concentration power, consistency and lessens golf handicaps. So, if you are addicted to a game of golf, better start with the warming exercises that may help you succeed and become a professional golfer in no time.

Take a look at this video from you tube that may help you with your exercises.

A person who is fond of knowing golf is enthusiast about playing. A player who understands the game well can easily hit the drives to improve the game, played by a team. The main reason for losing the golf game might be distance, as the player has to cover the maximum space by putting its full energy and strength. Every player wants his game to be played well, so he takes every possible effort to improve the game.

These five tips will help in improving your ability to hit a longer drive.

1. Ball Movement:

The first and foremost thing is to visualize the movement of the ball. In Golf, this helps a lot in making goals which increases the points of the winning team. A player should have a positive attitude towards his game because in the past years it has been discovered that even the most popular golf players didn’t join any club, until they were able to see the ball’s movement in the direction, where they wish the ball to go.

2. Strong Muscles:

Join a golf club to add some muscles to your arms. It is not necessary for a golf player to have strong muscles as golf is not a muscular or a personality competition. Muscles are just required to build a strong strength so as to hit the golf ball far away. Along with this, it is necessary to have a strong built up in regard to other parts of a human body. This will help the game score bar to rise immensely. So, get ready to join a fitness gym to give a startup to your training routine.

3. Weight on the Ball:

A golf player should learn about putting the weight on the golf ball. For this, good practice is needed to reverse the weight shift. A player should learn how to shift the weight of his body from back to front instead from front to back. The more the player learns about doing this, the sooner he hits the long drives harder.

4. Endurance:

For playing golf, it is important to have rise in endurance. Several players do not consider golf as a physical game due to which they do not possess endurance to struggle. As the game goes strong by moving the drives far and long, a player has more chances of fatigue. So, if a player increases his endurance, he will be able to improve his overall game.

5. Training:

Players, who want to improve their game, are willing to learn more about the golf tips and suggestions from various gym instructors. Even you can request your instructor to watch your game; so that he can tell your drawbacks and this will help in improving your game. So, it is really important to have golf training at the best possible training center or a gym.

Once you start up with your game you need to emphasize on your diet to remain fit and healthy. Forget all your anxieties and tensions as this game requires lot of concentration. So, win your game and be amongst the most popular players in the game of golf.
